Nice rifle - but why the beer? I hate to see guns and alcohol together.
I notice that not many threads have pictures of your guns. As proud gun owners and a very visual person myself i would expect to see some more pictures. So come on gals/guys post up your rig, what components are used, load/bullet used and what you normally can expect to shoot with it. Show me some pictures. ;D
As a thread starter: Model 12BTCSS .223rem, Nikon 6.5x20x44, bedded, further lightened Acu-trigger, off of a Cadwell front rest.
Best groups out of 69smk or 75vld Bergers over H335 or Varget. I usually shoot around .5 moa (guessing the gun is much better than Shooter)

Well, I am ashamed to say that my new rig is yet unfired. I have been suffering with a herniated disc and also had knee surgery 3 weeks ago. I will get out there soon.
It is a 10FLP .223(I am left eye dominant) and has a custom stock by me, and Nikon 4-16x50SF scope in a DNZ GameReaper mount. I plan to cut this barrel to 20inches and put a nice target crown on it.

Gun porn!
I love it. I've found it is a GREAT way to get ideas for your own rig. 56k users have got to just HATE these threads...
ponykilr, that is a gorgeous picture. Is that a painted wooden stock? Also, maybe its just me, but I think you need a tactical bolt handle on that bad boy...but no rush...it sounds like you need some R&R for now (get well soon)!
No worries-the beer was added as a joke to a friend when i sent that pic to him. After i took the pic i liked the colors/contrast of the shot. Besides... looks better than having my mug up there. :POriginally Posted by vermonter
Lots of drool worthy setups... Keep them coming!
studentx how much does the muzzle brake reduce recoil?
Oh yeah!
Also, it might be a good idea to post prices, if you're comfortable doing so.
It's a painted plastic stock. He made a post of how he did it. I forget where, but he did a nice job.Originally Posted by treehuggermugger

I honestly dont know how much it reduced the recoil...but I can say that this is the rig I take P-Dog hunting and usually put 60 rounds down range a day with it. Also, here is a pic of my 12yo shooting it...sometimes pics are worth more than words (light recoil)
Savage 10FLP .223
Stockade Woodchuck stock
Leupold rings and base
Centerpoint 8-32x56 scope
.25moa
I'll play:
12VSS, B&C Duramaxx, 308 Win
16SS, B&C Duramaxx, McGowen SS Match 30-06
Great thread guys!
OK, "Noobie Boy" here has a question. Student X mentioned that his gun had a Recoil Lug added to it.
I certainly don't want to hi-jack this thread, but what is a recoil lug?
Keep the pictures coming....!
Here's mine:
This is old Nutless,24" Broughton 5c barrel, 6m.m.B.R. 1-10"twist,.272 neck, Trued Target action, 24X Bausch&Lomb,Stockade bolthandle,F-class stock, .300" Holland Lug, 0moa Warne Tac. rail & Burris Signature Zee Rings
Here's my short little .308 -Model 11 Accu-Trigger action,Bead Blasted & shortened 19 5/8" S.S. Factory Barrel & recoil lug , 6X Weaver Classic, Bedded Stevens 200 stock, Stockade bolthandle.
The recoil lug is the piece of steel sandwiched between the barrel nut and action. It transfers the recoil to the stock when you fire the rifle. The factory ones can bend, the nice thick ones from SSS do not bend and therefore make the rifle more consistently accurate.Originally Posted by saxart
The only time I've ever heard of a factory lug bending was when using uber magnum and dangerous game cartridges with the heavy for caliber bullets. The issue with the factory ones is that they are stamped and as such have a slight taper in thickness from bottom to top. The floating bolt-head pretty much makes the taper a non-issue as far as accuracy goes, but if you're swapping out a barrel it doesn't hurt to go ahead and spend the $25-30 for a quality aftermarket lug that's slightly thicker machined steel and surface ground to ensure flatness.Originally Posted by ponykilr

Thanks, It's filled and painted tupperware. I am attempting to get better, it has been a bad road.Originally Posted by treehuggermugger
Not much but here is my .300 WM I recently got. Not pretty YET! It is a Savage 110 Tactical with a heavy barrel on it and ignore the scope, I just wanted to use it on the next hunt and didn't have the money for the scope I want yet.
How about a soda can in the pic?
HillBillyShooter
Good to see you got your gun. I have been following your story. It will be interesting to see it when we get it done.
Thanks! I will try to get the scope and stock by the end of Feb. but right after H/S I am gonna go to the boats to see if I like it there and then I KNOW I will be able to get that stuff.
This is what I hunt with exclusively. 338 Win Mag for 225 and 250 grain bullets or 338 Cooper Express for 160 Grain Barnes TTSX or 180gr Accubonds. Since its a Savage Action switching barrels is very easy. Also I am shooting a rimmed cartridge case so the magnum bolt head does not have to be changed when switching from a rimmed case to a belted magnum. The benchrest mon-pod and Bi-pod are switched out for Harris folding bi-pods. Horus Vision 3-12 with rangefinder reticles,Leupold base and 30 Mill rings.

No offense Neal but is that thing Legal.
Last I heard you could build a rifle on a pistol(Striker) action but no the other way around.
There are 3 kinds of people in this world. Those who can do math and those who can't
No offense taken Rooster.
Yes according to BATF. Yes according to Jim at Northland where I have purchased several of the undesignated target actions. Yes according to McGowen barrels who will be selling their actions undesignated shortly.
If it comes from the factory without stock or barrel and is logged in to your FFL as "action only", when you and I fill in that pretty yellow form, at that time it is designated by checking the box you wish to designate it as.
Thank you for making sure.
