I am wondering if these #'s sound valid.

I have installed my criterion .308 barrel and in the process of getting things together to start reloading for a new caliber (.308 is new to me). I have the hornady L-N-L OAL gauge. I measured 15 times with the same 165 grain hornady SST and I am getting a reading of 2.2435 to 2.2445. The last 10 measurements all being 2.244 or 2.2445. I am pretty confident that this is the correct measurement. However that means that the cartridge overall length is going to be 2.872'ish. Does that seem overly long to anyone. If I remember correctly yhr 1:10 twist criterion drop ins are set up for heavier bullets perhaps explaining the longer throat? If I can find some 175 gr SMK's I will be loading these as well.

Anyone have any trouble loading the 165's out to such a long length? No idea how the extra length will change case capacity except I will have more. Just not sure how much more and if I need to be worried about that.

Just spinning my wheels till the warmer weather gets here. It is 15 degrees here in lincoln this evening.
