    Savage/Stevens 62

Hi all. New here and looking at buying a buddies Model 62. It will probably be the one .22 that I own for a long time and looking at trying something. Has anyone tried fitting the 62 action into the 64 ttr stock? I know that I might be crazy but thought it might be fun to do.

Hard to say. They look almost identical, but small changes could have been made that would make the stock incompatible. The TTR stocks are just wood painted black, so modifying one wouldn't be too difficult if needed.

So the 64 TTR-SR is a wood stock?

Yes, it's simply wood painted over with a truck bed liner type paint that has some texture to it.

Not sure what you mean - most bipods mount using the front sling swivel post.

correct. Does the 62 have one? My friend has no idea and was going to throw in some spring loaded barrel bipod. I would rather buy one that mounts on the swivel post but have seen conflicting info on if it does or doesnt have one.

Yes it does - two in fact (unless the previous owner removed them). Even if it didn't, it's fairly simple to drill a 1/8" hole in the wood stock and screw in a stud.
