Anyone shooting the 52 gr bergers / target bullets or 53 gr v maxs ?

I picked up a box of each over the weekend, and am looking for some of your good loads that your rifle likes with any of these bullets. I will start below your loads , of coarse. I am shooting a bvss in .223.

Also, would like to hear what kind of groups and speed you are getting.

    Thanks

I'm getting excellent results with both the 52 Bergers and 53 Vmaxs. I am running 3700 with 36.5 grains of IMR 4064 In my 24" Axis. Half inch groups are the norm with both loads but the Bergers Definitely are the most accurate out of my rifle. The down range edge clearly goes to the Higher B.C. Vmax though. Also the Vmax are almost half the price of the Bergers. I Haven't yet shot any game with the 53 Vmax but the Berger has done a number on a few coyotes.

I shoot Vmax's in 50s 52s 53s and 55s and can't really tell the difference, they all get 1/2 groups and better, and they all get the same load, my 223AI with 30gr of varget will get you in round numbers 3800FPS in a 12 twist 26"barrel, my 22-250 will produce 4100FPS with 40gr varget in a 14 twist 26" barrel, and my take no prisoners 220 swift, with 44gr of varget catapults them to 4400FPS 16 twist 26" barrel, when income tax refund season comes around, I will be turning the 22-250 and the 220 swift into AI versions can't wait. funny although I can't tell a difference between the 50gr to 55gr Vmax's, there is a world of difference between the 35gr and the 40gr Vmax's,

I don't reload my own so it's not as much help as the others, but I've been impressed with the 53 grain v-max superformance load. The picture is a 5 shot group (1 mag full) fired at 100 yards from prone with a bipod only. The first shot is the one outside of the group. I was wearing gloves and still not quite used to the light varmint accu-trigger of the VLP, it's a little different from the stock Stevens 200 trigger. It's right at 1 moa for all 5, I would imagine the 4 in the center is about .25moa.

I just loaded 500 rds. of 53 gr. V-max for my bro's bushmaster. I used 26 gr. of IMR 4895, remington brass and CCI primers. Length is 2.20. Will produce 1 in. groups at 100 yrds with a 16.5 in. barrel. This is a slight compression load with no pressure signs. I like the 4895 because I also load my 22 hornet, 30-30's, 6.5 jap and 30-06 with it as well.
