According to my Savage Catalog the L stands for lefthanded and the Y stands for Youth. The GLY is 1.75 in. shorter than the GL and .5 lb. lighter and GL has cut checkering, GL has 21 in. barrel GLY has 19 in. barrel. Hope that helps. Quick
Is the only difference between the Savage 22 Rf Mark II GL and the GLY the stock?

Absolutely.
Looking for one for my daughter.
I was just thinking of finding the GL would be easier and cheaper than the youth model. I could just cut the stock.
I don't suspect that there will be any difference in the bolt and whatnot, just stock and apparently barrel length.
Thanks for the leg work.
Jeff
I see this got moved to centerfires.
I was referring to the Mark II when I initially posted it.
If your daughter is ten years old, or older, don't bother with the GLY. That thing is TINY.
She's a small 8. Guess she gets height from her Mom.Originally Posted by firemachine69

Seriously, buy the "full size" GL. When she hits her teens, she'll be ready to hold a centerfire that much faster.
