Buy an unchambered Axis barrel from Savage???

I'd really like to have a 7mm TCU chambered Axis and wondered if Savage would sell me an unchambered 7mm stainless barrel. I'm betting not but I wish they would.

Why a savage barrel? there are many other barrels out there.

The Savage barrels I've got seem to be as accurate as many custom barrels plus I want it to fit the stock Axis barrel channel. I'm sure custom makers could possibly match the Axis barrel contour but I'm sure it would cost more to do so. Since Savage is ALREADY producing the barrels with the contour and bore I would like, it would just seem easiest to obtain an unchambered barrel and have it chambered for the 7mm TCU. So to answer your question; Obtaining one unchambered would be the easiest and possibly the cheapest way to obtain what I'm seeking and I'm perfectly happy with the accuracy I've experienced with Savage barrels. Now if the Savage barrel is going to cost the same as a custom made barrel then I may consider that, but it's all moot until I know IF Savage will sell me an unchambered barrel and what the cost would be.

Savage won't sell you a barrel outright no matter if it's chambered or not. They are not even available to licensed gunsmiths.

Thanks! That answers my question. Now on to Plan B.
