brtelec, being the clod I am, when it comes to firearms I prefer facts. Opinions can get you hurt.

I believe Cerakote is stronger than Duracoat as it is baked on rather then air dried. I have a cerakoted pistol and one with duracoated grips. The cerakote seems to bond with the steel. Duracoat appears like paint.
I feel they are both good finishes with their own unique merits.
For me its Duracoat on polymer & plastic. Cerakote on steel and aluminum.
Durakote has more color options than Cerakote.

I have done about a dozen of each and there is no comparison. Ceracoat is hands down more durable on metal, it is also applied much thinner, which is a plus on moving parts. I still use duracoate on stocks and scopes from time to time but when doing an action or barrel its all ceracoat.
