    Anyone shooting a Criterion 30-06?

Looking for feedback on the Criterion 30-06s, especially with heavier bullets.

They're supposed to have 0 freebore, so how do they do with seating depths using the 180-200gr bullets?

Thinking about picking up a 26" 1:10 to shoot the 165-200s.

    Thoughts?

Yup, I have one. I can seat the 208 amax to 3.350" COAL. I also shoot 185 VLD's and have no problems.

I know mileage may vary trail rider but can you post some pics of the loads an groups at a known distance? Not trying to hijack just curious of how long it took your barrel to settle in an what loads you're seeing are most accurate. I've got the same barrel installed and haven't fired round 1 out of it yet :-( guns together though

    Quick kill,

Sure no problem. I broke in my Marlin XL7 30-06 24" Criterion rifle barrel using Berger 185 VLD hunting , Win brass, wolf primer, 58gr Ramshot powder.

Here's a target at 100 yards barrel break-in. Clean between each shot.

Current load using 57grs. H4350, win brass, CCI-200 primer, 185 VLD .057" off lands / 2815 avg fps. Made some adjustments and couldn't decide on col,so I went out and shot a few rounds at 320 yards in 5 mph winds. Shot Prone with bipod and rear bag off uneven ground.

Same 185 vld load .042" off lands.

I went to do some practice and have a plate set up 830 yards, forgot to bring camera to take photo of area. The 10"x10" plate is setup across a canyon were winds are tricky.
30-06 shooting 185 vld 5 shots with 4.125" group / Bigger splats. Hit bulls eye and remaining 4 shots to the left.

Next up is 208 Amax using Remington or Lapua brass, Ramshot Hunter 57grs, wolf primer. Avg speed 2710 fps. Only data so far is 320 yards.

Testing COL with 208 amax. Settled with .022" off lands. My coal is 3.366" from base to tip. My barrel has a short throat. Its .022" off the lands. So max touching lands is 3.388"
