Noobie ?: What all is involved in rechambering Savage LPV 22-250 to 22-250AI

Can someone explain to me what all would be required to recamber the existing Savage factory 22-250 1 in 9 inch twist barrel to 22-250AI? Is this even practical? Or would buying and installing an after market 22-250AI barrel be a better option? Aside from the cost of the barrel, how much money would this typically cost to have a gunsmith make this modification or is this something I can do myself? TIA.

Set the barrel back and rechamber.......I think several have done it, maybe they'll chime in.

Personally, I'ld go with something that would really smoke! ;D

I have a 22-250 AI built with the sole purpose of shooting heavy bullets. Definitely worth doing if you have a .223 1 in 9 twist barrel cause of the added capacity. If your 22-250 barrel you have now is already the 9 twist model I would not do it. If you have the 12 twist I would sell it or trade for the .223 barrel and have it rechambered, otherwise buy an aftermarket barrel with the money from your barrel.
