Accuracy is different with every rifle.

Get yourself a reloading manual and start expiermenting.

Recent OCW tests have shown IMR4320 & H4831 worked out pretty well with the heavier bullets for me but, as Matt said - Each barrel will have it's own personality. I have a .243 - 26" Shaw barrel that has a personality like one of my ex-wife's...... Nothing will make it happy.

Have fun & good luck with your experimenting.

Thanks guys for the feedback...just lookin for a starting place. I had some ideas from guys around here so just gatherin info. FYI bought a box of Winchester 100gr. power points to have something to shoot and could not believe
the terrible quality. Bullet seating varied by 1/16 of an inch. So I thought cases not trimmmed the same...nope just that much dif. in seating. The crimp was ringed half way around on the neck. Took them back and bought
    Federal Power Shocks....mucho better.

Ya know, speaking of Federal, I always had good results with Federal Vital Shok & Power Shok in any rifle I've used them in. The ones with the Nosler Ballistic Tipped bullets did best.
The only thing I didn't like was the $45 a box.

The ammo I refer to specificly was .270win - Federal Vital Shok 150gr, with a Nosler BT for a projectile. They were, by far, the most consistantly accurate rounds I ever used in that rifle. I also tried the same Fed type in an '06 with comparable results.
Basicly is was the fancy version of Fed ammo. I bougtht it from a local gun shop, too. It probably has a 483.8% make up.

    It's about $30 - $35 a box frm Midway & places like that if I recall.

They were exactly why I started loading my own.

    Re: Axis .243 handloads

My personal data also shows a favoritism for H4831 and heavier bullets.

I personally use H4895 in all my varmint/predator/deer rifles. Not temp sensitive and sub 1" @ 100 all day if you do your part.
