    208 A-Max in 300 Win Mag

Looking for anyone who has experience with loading the 208 A-Max in the 300 Win Mag who can point me in the direction of some load data or share their own. I have a brand new Savage F-Class that just got rebarreled and now it is outfitted with a Krieger 1.250" straight taper 30" tube 1in8 twist 300 Win Mag. I am wanting to try out the 208s and see how they will perform out to 600yds. Thanks in advance, Peter.

    You won't stop at 600!

My Savage likes Retumbo or H1000 or H4831 with 180 Nosler BT's or 208 gr AMax. Follow the load books and work up from the bottom. Seems like every 300 WM is different.

Pic of 180 gr Nosler BT's at 1000 yards in some significant wind.

Use the 200 AB load data...work up in .5 or .4 gr increments.

DON'T work your loads up at 100 yards.....use 300 yard targets. Found 100 yard does not tell the tale on the fast calibers or big magnums all the time.

Also...do you have a GOOD recoil pad? The 180's are ok, but the 208's do whack the trigger puller a little bit after an extended range session.

I don't think I have to worry about recoil too much. The gun weights about 17 lbs. I am gonna work on the loads this weekend.

-- Win Prepped Brass -- Check the 91% Alcohol capacity and the necks mainly.
-- Win LRM primers -- Yes Win LRM :)
-- *ABOUT* 78gr of H1000, but please start low and work up!!!

If that does not work out try the same brass and primers, but use IMR4350, about 67gr, but again please work up to this! Yes, I said IMR 4350...

    Happy shooting,
    Gary
