Nice! Now some Back strap
Caught this old guy slipping through a thicket this morning about 7:15. Shot him with my .270 build. I was using 130grain Ballistic Tips behind RL17 at about 3200fps..... did the job! This was my first buck since building the rifle last year. Very satisfying shooting it with bullets I loaded in a rifle I built! Couldn't have done it without all the help from this site. 17 3/4" inside spread and about 200lbs. We think he was 5yrs old or older.
Nice! Now some Back strap
Congrats! It is so much nicer when you have a hand in every piece of everything isn't it?
Thanks guys....yep time for some backstrap and jerky. And, yes JackinSD, it is sweet. My daughter killed her first deer this year...a doe with a .243 I built for her shooting some reduced loads I cooked up for it. To be honest, her doe was probably a bigger deal than me killing this buck today! But either way, it spells good times!
Wow nice deer and an even nicer rifle.
Beautiful deer, and a nice, clean classic hunting rig you built.
