    Converting caliber question?

I am converting my Savage Target action from magnum bolt head to standard caliber bolt head(308). Do I need to change anything beside the bolt head? Do I need a different firing pin, extractor, etc? Or can I use the firing pin and existing extractor?

    Thanks

You might have to change the firing pin and extractor. I would call Effie in Savage's parts department.

I have converted from std caliber to magnum and back, never needed to swap firing pin or extractor. You may need to adjust the pin protrusion, but as long as the diameters are the same no need to swap. I'm also sure the airhead with only 10 posts above, wouldn't know a good site if it was stuck up his $$$.

I doubt there is a single site on the web that can give you more/better info on Savage rifles than this one.
