    Savage 219 barrel removal

I already posted this in the vintage center-fire forum but I figured this forum would be more appropriate. I am trying to figure out how to remove the barrel on the 219 that I recently received after a family member passed away. It has the 30-30 barrel installed and it came with a 20 gauge barrel and forend. I removed the forend but I cannot figure out how the barrel is removed. Is it just really stiff to remove or what is the steps to remove the barrel?

Just like any shotgun. Pull down on the front end of the forend until it snaps off, then open the action until the barrel unhooks from the pivot pin. These often seem to be sticky opening after they've been sitting unused for a while. It seems that the ejector mechanism always needs a hefty dose of penetrating oil and a good cleaning.

(If you removed the forend by undoing the screw, put it back, then follow instructions above.)
