    New style barrel nut

I was looking at the savage website and it looks like they have changed the barrel nut. Do you need a new wrench ? Do they still change barrels the same ? I tried to search old threads but that is a dead end. Sorry if this has been hashed out before.

They come off quite easily with a pipe wrench.

Then replace it with a regular nut.

    Good One!

The nut is cheaper than the wrench . . . .

Is this the third nut, a brand new one, like this year?

Actually, the smooth nut isn't new. I had an old J Series that had a smooth nut.
