High Praise For Savage Rifles!

I am by no means done working up a load but I am MOST impressed with the results at this early stage.

Lets not get into "what load" ..... give me the juice ...... that's for another topic, place and when I really have a load ...........

A little over a year ago, I bought a Savage 110 (2000 vintage) in 7mm Rem mag from a local gun shop. My plan was to acquire a .358 Norma mag barrel or a .416 Taylor.

But several weeks ago I updated my membership to paid and then discovered the member classifieds.

The 'ole bank account is now a bit bruised ...... but I have had a BALL!!!

I have acquired a number of barrels here and have had STELLAR results with all I have dealt with ....... KUDOS to this web site!!!!

The barrel I am working with is a Savage take off Stainless fluted varmint in .25-06. I have tuned the factory 2 screw trigger as far as is wise and will change it to something else because I am seeing a picture as to the accuracy of the combo that SCREAMS ...... give me a great trigger!!!

My early prediction is that once I get all my ducks in a row ....... this package may well yield sub .5 or .4 moa ....... all with a Tuppeware stock with pillars!!!

And I am making another prediction:

There are going to be some more Savages here in coming months!!!!

Three44 The only problem I see with Savage is that the rest of the shooting community is starting to wake up, which in turn is driving up demand and hence the price.I personally liked it better when they were half the price of Remmy's and Howa's and the like.
When you would go to the range with your cheap Savage with the flimsy tupperware stock and pretty much out shoot the row of shooters.Now people are waking up and see what can be done with a Savage.
My only wish is they would come out with a competitively priced AR style with the quality and accuracy of a Bushmaster, boy would that round out the rifle line.

I Agree! I took my Savage 10 Precision Carbine (.223) to sight it in but the 100yd range was closed for renovation so I had to shoot the 50 yard range. Using Remington PMC 55 grain factory rounds I was shooting 5 shot groups that could have been covered by a quarter. I'm thinking it will do the same at the 100 yard line once I find its favorite ammo (load). Yes, I'm impressed!

Demand will surely rise ...... I'm afraid that the days of "inexpensive" Savages is about to close!!

Don't worry guys, the Stevens line is still available to the shooting public. Only problem is, I need stevens in left hand with the bolt on the correct side.

I am a south paw that never has had a bolt on the correct side ....(40 years worth) ......... I don't think I could stand being completely politically correct ......

I am surprised that this bull barreled .25-06 does not recoil anymore than it does, it's a big drop from my .270 in a M77 sporter.

thats the downside to being left handed. you gotta buy the 'expensive' savage line in order to get the bolt on the correct side.

just had them fixed. they do not make left handed rifles fast enough at the factory for some guys so they have them converted by a gender specialist.
