Well here is few pictures of my new creation, A homemade Axis benchrest stock. this stock I made in my garage out of a 4 by 8 sheet of plywood. This stock is my design of a dog tracker, and has an off set forarm. Today we had one of the last warm days so I desided to paint it up, it still is not finish, needs some sanding and a clear coat. I have shot the gun in this stock , and it tracks GREAT, shot some 2 inch 5 shoot 600 yard groups with it. Thought I would share.
OK they wern't showing up at first, dang sat internet, really buggy lately.
Looking at the hole in the buttstock, it looks as though you laid it out with the lamination's running vertically, correct?
Very interesting build, would like to see pics of the build, if you have them, or at least more details.
Hard to beat the cost, that's for sure.

OK I'm confused. Looking at the top pic of the blank, I can see the lams run top to bottom. In other words the sides are solid, and the layers go from side to side. Maybe I didn't say it right or something, but it's laid out how I am thinking it was laid out. You are saying that you changed up the direction of the layout from the sheet itself, I think.
I thought they automatically did that with plywood any way. One layer runs grain north to south, the next layer runs grain east to west. That's what I was told how they make it.
What type of plywood is it? I don't see voids and usually that means marine laminated ply.
It started out as a 4x8 sheet of 1/8 Lauan Plywood. Got it on sale at Menards for $4.88 a sheet. There is 16 boards in the laminate, meaning I have 8 boards that run with the grain of the wood, and 8 boards that run against the grain of the wood. The laminate is 2 wide, I glued up the forarm to be 3 inchs wide. I got 2 blanks out of the 4x8 sheet, and had left over to do other work.
Great job. One question though.. why all the glitter?

It is a true bench gun, it will never be used for anything but 600 yard benchrest shooting.
A good bench gun should have some flash to it.
Well, I did it as I had time, it could have gone a lot faster. It took me a couple of hours to cut the 4x8 sheet of plywood up, and laminate it all togeather. Then there was a day or so drying time. Then a couple of hours in cutting it out, inletting it, puttiing in the pillars, Bedding the action (About the hardest part of the project.) cutting and shaping the brass butt plate, and then shapping it took about a hour or so. Then there was time, sealing it and putting it in a vacume chamber, then getting everything right. I never keep track, my guess is there is atleast a days worth of labor into it.

Looks GOOD!!!! I've seen several nice stocks lately....makes me want to try it. Large metal flake.....I like it!!! I would like one in deep blue gloss.....
What did you pull a vacuum with? HVAC vacuum pump?
O a little trick I learned, using the intake side of an air compressor.
Now that's smart!!!
Nice stock. I'm in the process of making afew stocks myself , what did you use to inlet the trigger area of the stock .

I must admit the vacume chamber idea was not mine, but from one of the smartest guys I have ever meet. I barrowed the chamber from him as well.
Everything on the stock was done free hand. On the inletting I did get a bit of help.
