Hello, I'm new to this forum and was hoping I could get some info on a shotgun I recently acquired. It is marked "Stevens 511 Series A 12 gauge. It is used so I didn't get an owner's manual for it. My question has to do with how it operates. When I press the lever to the right and open the action the lever then goes all the way to the left and it is necessary to manually move the lever to the right to close the action. Is this normal for this gun? This is different from other doubles I have owned where the lever stays to the right and all that is needed to close the action is just to close the action. Also, I have a shotgun that looks almost identical to this one except it is marked "Sears" and it doesn't require manually moving the lever to close the action. Thanks in advance for any insight. Also, is there a source where I can find out when this gun was made and a place that might have owner's manuals? Thanks. Pete.
