    Savage .30 cal twist

    I have a striker and M10 in .308 Win. I ?measured twist ~10", I think twist is 10". Is that true? I thought .308 Win twist was ~standard at 12"?
    Thanks;

    Most Savage 308 rifles do have a 1 in 10" twist.

    My Mdl 10 does. My VERY old Winchester (.308)has the 12 twist. But they werent thinking heavy bullets back then.

    Savage tends to offer faster twists than other manufactures in many calibers, such as offering a 9 and 12 twist 22-250 when most offer the slower 1 in 14. Also of course in this case of the 308 the 1 in 10 vs the 1 in 12. I think this shows how savage is more in tune with their customers and realize that having the option to shoot heavier bullets in a factory barrel is always a bonus. This IMO gives Savage an edge vs their competitors who are generally too conventional.
