    Talking First post. Savage owner

I want to say hello to everyone and thanks for this website!
I picked up my first savage at a pawn shop last year, its a model 111 in 30-06 w/accutrigger. Its a beast for a woods gun. Yesterday while I was traveling for my job, I stumbled accross a model 12 in 22-250. The sticker said 740. I offered 700 and got it. Now, what can I expect from it. Its going to be my dedicated bench/yote gun. I have not got to shoot it yet, but it sure is a looker! Did I get a good deal? What should I feed it? Does anyone know how to deciepher the S/N on it? I live in Knoxville, so if anyone wants to go shooting, pm me!

My 111 in 30-06 topped with a Leupold vx3 in 3x9x50 with my hip hammer next to it.

The NEW TO ME model 12 22-250 topped with a Nikon Buckmasters 4x16? And harris bipod.

and it should have the 1-12 twist barrel so its good to go with any of the lighter loads

So, what can I expect out of this rifle? Its going to be my first dedicated yote/long range hammer. I would really like to squeeze every last ounce of awesomness from it. THe idea is that I want to be able to sit on my roof, and take out critters in the field. Longest shot would be 450 yards.....Is this even feasable?

Anyone? I also want to swap in a Wood stock. Preferably one from savage. I like the BVSS???? stock. Also would like to have the barrel threaded for a suppressor/muzzle brake. Anyone do these mods with success?
