At 500' ASL & 59F, a 220gr Matchking through a 1:10 barrel at 2300fps has a stability factor of 1.73.
1:12 twist barrel has a stability factor of 1.20.
Does the twist rate in a Savage 111 in 30-06 support 220 gr bullets? Anyone have good accuracy shooting 220 gr bullets from their 111?
What bullet range will it support?
What is the twist rate?
Thanks.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that anything over 1.00 is considered stable, although that is very marginal stability.
Typically a stability factor 1.4 or higher gives plenty of margin to ensure stability even in very cold, sea level conditions.
Basically, if your rifle is a 10 twist you're good.
By the way you twist is 1-10 and yes it should stabilize then but I think you be better of with 168s ;-) or 178s
Because 2500 fps is kinda slow ;-)
