I like it either way .....maybe you should build a sister .....one in camo the other in black.
Can't wait what you build with more omppf.

The look of my tensioned 223 Stevens has been changed. Same components as before just with some "shine". The action was media blasted then blued. The tube is 304 SS and the tensioning nut is 416 SS.
Here is the before pic:

And the after pics:

Leupold rings, bases and the bolt handle polished:

My wife likes the new look, I may have lost another to her :).
This is fine because I was starting the process of planning a new build for something with a little more oompf.

I can understand just sanding/repainting the rifle and stock, but how does one go about removing the paint from a scope?
On this one I just changed scopes. I use spray cans to paint so acetone will remove it easily after a little bit of waiting. I normally wrap the scope in paper towels, soak those with acetone then bag it to keep it from evaporating. After a day or so the paint falls off for the most part without damage to the scope or seals.Originally Posted by Specter65

Just a word of warning: Acetone will remove the coatings on the optics used for refractive index matching to improve light transmission with some brands of scopes. Thankful I did it on a el-cheapo scope so I had minimal lose of $$$. The literature with my Weaver T36s and my Burris scopes stated to avoid the use of solvents on the optics. Just sure you have your lid caps on very tightly. TimOriginally Posted by dolomite_supafly
