    Barrel Nut question

When I order the barrel it wasn't chambered or threaded yet, all of the prefix barrels they have are small shank. I told them I needed it to be large shank and cambered to 300 WSM well it looks like they threaded it to the same length as a SS and not the sorter treads of a LS. I needed the barrel for deer season at the end of the mouth so I just shout it and started working up a load as the pic's shows it's doing pretty good. What I want to know is can you buy a LS nut that will cover that or can someone retread a nut from a SS to a LS?

pretty sure you are stuck with the large shank nut, unless somebody custom makes you one.

obviously the reason the small shank one is longer is due to it having to taper down to the smaller diameter. Have never seen one as long in a large shank.

The least expensive option I can think of that would make it look right would be to replace the standard recoil lug with one thick enough to make up the difference. That's probably what the barrel maker had intended to be done. Most it'll take is another breakdown and modifying the stock for the thickness.

Ok that sounds like a plan thanks speedrat, this will all have to be after deer season of cores.
