question about the savage 110 in 25-06

ok new to the forums been lurking all day. so to the question i have a friend in need of some money and he is wanting to sell me his 110 in 25-06. the problem is i am a huge .270 shooter and have all the equipment for match grade 270 reloads. so is it true that i can just change out the barrel to a 270 and it will work? or are other parts needed to be changed as well? thank you for any info that i may have overlooked in my searches.

The .25-06 is by far my favorite deer rifle. Give it a chance before swapping the barrel. And yes all you need is a 270 barrel, a go gage, barrel nut wrench, and either a barrel vise or action vise.

    No don't do it.
    I'm warning you don't try the 25-06
The next thing you know you'll be buying dies, reloader 22, brass and bullets by the bucket.

I agree with the others, my 111 in 25-06 is the most fun and accurate gun I own. Sub half minute groups, very little recoil and a do-all caliber. Mine is setup for varmints with 44.5 gr IMR 4350, fed 210m primer, 75 gr V-Max at 3350 fps. Bone stock pencil barrel, hogged out synthetic stock spray bombed camo with Nikon Monarch 4-16x42. Try it before you swap it!

well looks like i will have to try this guy out for a full season and make sure i want to change it over. but it sounds like i may not need to change it. now all i need to do is find a nice synthetic stock most that i have found are for either bull or varmint contoured barrels

I think the 25-06 is a freakin waste of a good rifle personally. I would yank it off and put that 270 barrel on and never look back.... Then send me a PM and I might just buy that crappy 25-06 barrel from you.
