Timging & Truing

Timing and truing is only for the Savage solid botton actions, or it is good service for a Stevens200?
I do have a Stevens in 7-08 but a friend build me a nice benchrest stock, now I want a better trigger, maybe a 2 oz, like my 30BR's and 6PPC, then change the barrel.
Is it worth it to improve the Stevens.

One of these days I'll have to test my Canjar trigger. I don't know what it's at but holy smokes is it light. I'm guessing between 4 and 6 oz.

From where can I get one?

A Stevens 200 is the same action as a Savage, so what is good for a Savage is also good for a Stevens.

My SSS Evolutions triggers break at 2oz, I have a hard time telling them apart from my 2oz jewel trigger on my Remington clones.

What brand action are your 30br and your 6ppc?

Stangfish, I have a Viper/30BR 1in17/6BR 1in14/6PPC 1in14/ .....3 barrels one rifle, Rem/30BR 1in17 and building another one with a Borden Rimrock/30BR 1in18, which is already a barreled action and I have the trigger, bases, rings, scope but no stock, need one with 3" forend to build a 13 1/2 lbs rifle for varmint for score.

LOL interesting. I have gotten a 16 oz pull on one but 1.5 lbs is the usual low pull using a savage arms sintered trigger with stamped seer.

See that the savage and Stevens have the same floating bolt design truing has less gains then on lets say a remy 700. ;-)

Truing keeps everything aligned. This makes a difference the further out you go because your scope will be mounted on the part that is TRUED. if anywhere you are pushing something that is not in axial alignment with the centerline of the barrel it is going to cause acuracy issues...big or small. Timing is something that will most likely smooth out the effort that you assert on the bolt at opening and closing. One thing you might invest in is a new bolt handle from Fred(SSS) himself. It makes a big difference.
