What finish does a CBI barrel come in?

I talked to Jim @ NSS yesterday about ordering a barrel and forgot to ask him about the exterior finish. I'm still deciding on a chamber so I thought I would just ask here instead of bothering Jim again. I figure I will just go with SS and put it on my blued action. This will be a hunting gun for deer and black bear.

I did a pretty good search and actually couldn't find any posted pictures of finished guns with CBI barrels on. It wouldn't matter anyway since I don't know if you have a choice of finish.

    Thanks! Can't wait...

Barrels are stainless, unless you pay a bit extra for bead blasted.

Here's what my 22" light varmint 223AI CBI barrel looks like:

You can request a bead-blasted matte finish on SS; the cost is $35.00.

The SS CBI barrel matches very well with the Savage SS finish used on the older models. The bead-blasted SS finish looks good with the matte stainless finish on the newer Savage models with the a matte SS finish (ex. Axis SS and Hunter SS XP/Trophy models).

OK, thanks guys. I was just wondering since this will be a hunting gun. My gun is blue, so there's no need for matching anything. I'm strictly a function guy anyway. I'll just find something to cover it during hunting. Camo tape maybe. Maybe I can find something to wipe on that's non-reflective and is easy to wash or wipe off. If I could find a way of treating a chrome moly barrel myself, I would do that but I know cold bluing is a joke. It would have to be some kind of coating. Either way will be fine. My biggest problem will actually be deciding on what chambering to get: 308, 7mm'08 or 6.5 creedmoor. Tough one. They all have things I really like in a hunting gun.

A lot of people do black Cerakote. It is a bake on finish and is very wear resistant (same finish as is used on the FN SCAR series rifles). That way you can have a black matt barrel that matches your receiver and should be very durable.
