    case head size

Think I have it figured out but I wanna make sure. I have a 12fv .308 and I want to switch barrels.
The case head for .308 is .473, so does that mean i can switch barrels with a .473 sized case head
and not have to switch bolts. And also what are my tolerances for case head size matching up with bolt.
    I noticed the 22-250 is a .472.

    Re: case head size

Your 473 bolt head will be fine for any cartridge, except rimmed like a 30-30, or a magnum , short mag, or a 223 variant (222, 204), or some huge T-rex.

The 22-250 will be good to go.

    Re: case head size

Savage bolt heads are a little generous in their diameters so you may have to replace the extractor ball with a larger one so the case will be reliably extracted and ejected.
