    52 grain bullets in a 1 in 9 twist ?

Tried some sierra 52 grainer in my 22-250 today at 200 yards..Used
    two powders H 380 and Re-15 The RE-15 looked the best,but I do not
think this is a good choice for this caliber..Think I will put they in the
closet and use the 55 grain and up...
What I am trying to do is find a good load using a lighter bullet to help
    keep barrel heat down some...John

4320 with nosler 55bt, the best accuracy load was a light load of 4320 with sierra 55 hpbt. The Sierra bullet had a bc of .175or.185 and a low fps giving my .223 the edge on bullet drop and wind drift, but at 100 yards the 22-250 would shoot 5 shots at 3/16" ctc all day every day.

I don't think the heat will change much with small bullet weight differences as supposed.
The heat mainly comes from 2 sources
    1) Amount of powder in the bore
    2) Twist/Duration of bullet because of it.

A serious problem you MAY be running into with groups on the lighter stuff is over-rotation induced wobble.
I have a listing of many popular 22-cal bullet RPM limits posted on Shootersforum:

Well, If you "need to shoot a bunch of them" and you are concerned with barrel heat & groupings; just slow them down.

Start at the Starting load for that powder. Wobble will be gone, heat will be greatly reduced, and IME the groups are quite good.

52 gr bullets work great in most barrels. The problem is your are using the wrong powder. I have never got h380 to shoot worth a crap, (It is a ball powder, and needs magnum primers to light it, but even with all of that it still dont shoot worth a crap.) and RE15 is a bit too slow. Try 4895, and you may see something.

I thought I was the only one that thought H380 sucked.....

I have a full can - minus 10 bullets worth at 41gr - that I would gladly give to anyone just to make room in the powder cabinet.

    I bought it on a whim looking for a powder between 4064 & 4350 for my 7mm.

It turns out that the barrel likes 4895 anyway. I swear it's just like a woman sometimes.....

ya it's a 1 in 9 twist barrel, I've even used bullets designed for the hornet in that twist with good success out to 200yrds or so

I did have some 55 grn Hornady soft points that would keyhole, but shot fine in a 1 in 7 twist AR-15, you can never tell, try the 52's you won't know until you try

I've got a 1-9 Savage barrel that just dodes on 40gr NBT's, I run them at 3900+ out of my 22" barreled 22-204. It is the best pelt hunting bullet I've found so far.

    22-204? That is called a 222 Magnum.

The twist isn't an issue. Your load might be. The 52gn SMK is a great little bullet and shoots extremely well in every rifle I own both in 1:9 and 1:7. Can't recommend a load for the 22-250 because I don't have one, but the little SMKs are great bullets. Sierra recommends RL-15 and I've found that their recommendations on powder are a good place to start.

If you're getting bullet wobble, check the runout of your loaded rounds. The bullet is probably entering the rifling slightly sideways.

Not really. Different shoulder angle on the .204 Ruger than the .222 Mag and the .204 has the neck shortened quite a bit.
