    First 1k shoot 6.5 CM

Work has been nothing but pissing me off lately so I said screw it and took a day off today. The weather was 25 with very little wind. I had to drive through 14 inches of snow in some places while at the range but it was all worth it. After verifying dope on the 200-500 steel range I went to the LR to shoot some paper. I grouped 3 shots right at 2.5 inches at 500 so I went to 1k.

I used a program on my Palm called Balistic to chart my dope. After manipulating the velocity a little so it would match up with my findings at 500 I dialed 28.5 in up on my scope and let em fly. To my surprise they were on paper. After some minor corrections I shot three five shot groups and this was the best. A dollar covers all 5 easily and if I had a caliper with me I'm sure its right around 5.5in. Not too shabby for a newb. Lucky for me there was next to no wind, the only thing I had to contend with was the constant falling snow. Visibility was poor but not impossible.

Dude, that is just awesome -- the group and the fact that you had the grit to shoot under such conditions. Bravo!

Thx and I had 3 layers on, and I gotta say $110 for one set of Poly Pro undergarments are well worth the dough. Just don't sweat in em or your screwed.

Looks like conditions where I live. Not too tough to go out in the winter if one likes to shoot. One thing to remeber is that air is denser in the cold so wind will move a bullet more than in the summer.

I'd say nice shootin'...like the rig too. ;D I want to go this weekend...10 to 20 inches of snow expected here. Gotta dust off the snowshoes! See if the songdogs wanna digest some lead.

That's great shooting. My shivering would have tripped the trigger and I'd of never got close. ;D

Thank God I live in Georgia now! I was raised in Wisconsin, left there in 65 when I enlisted and never went back. Very nice shooting by the way.

Are my assumptions correct that you're shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor?? I ordered a Cooper Montana Varmint chambered in this caliber last April and I finally got the call yesterday that it's ready for pick-up. Merry Christmas to me!! Are you shooting The Factory 120's,140's or hand loads. Nice rifle and shooting by the way!!

What's your barrel length and twist?? Mine is a 24 inch with 9 twist. I also plan on starting with the 140 Berger VLD. They currently shoot well out of my Savage F class 6.5/284, Sure would be nice to use the same bullet and powder (H4350) for both rifles. My rifle will be mostly be used for 300 yard prone matches on windy days. I look foreword to seeing moor range reports :D

Might want to switch to Under Armour or Armour All...these materials work rather well AND keep you dry, even if you perspire.

Or buy some 100% silk from Cabela's, or even the silk/wool blend. Wonderful stuff, and not nearly that pricey.

    Nice shootin'!
