    changing 111 barrel?

I am looking to get one of the package guns and possibly build it into a long-range shooter. Today I went and looked at them and noticed they don't have the barrel lug like my other savages have had. So does that mean I need to take it to the gun smith to have changed and can't do it my self like I did with my older 22-250? Thanks for your help Guys!!!

They still have the barrel nut, but it is a smooth one. Two options are available to you that I can think of:
    1. There is a special barrel nut wrench for the smooth barrel nuts you can order from
    Sharpshooter Supply.
Here's the photo from his website:

    2. You can use a pipe wrench on the smooth barrel nut and then replace the smooth nut you boogered-up with an older style (fluted) replacement barrel nut. The internal threads are the same on both styles of nut.

    I hope this helps.
