    Savage 10FCP McMillan

    Gentlemen,

I'm considering a used (but clean) Savage Arms 10FCP McMillan.

What would be a fair price for one of these w/ Weaver style bases installed and original documentation included ( but w/o box)?

    Thanks in Advance, ultramag44

How many rounds down the barrel? You usually figure about 3,000 rounds per barrel, and barrels are about $500 installed, headspaced, etc. Is that about 16 cents/round fired? Subtract the number of rounds from list price, including tax, through a dealer, and you get an estimate. There are other caveats, such as whether the previous owner might have done something good, like lapping the barrel and bedding the action; or something not-so-good, like whatever you can imagine, and negotiate from there. It is also reassuring if you and the owner can go to the range, and you can shoot it and check the accuracy. That's not something you can always expect, however, but then it falls under the "caveats." The bases might be on tight, but I use locktite on mine, and you don't want low-quality bases with rounded grooves. You probably will want to change the bases altogether, and use a picatinny rail with 10 MOA or 20 MOA of elevation built in.

In 2 min I found this same rifle brand new in stock for $1058 shipped. 1100 for a used one would be robbery. Not sure if a link is against the rules or not...

That's awesome then. I was just using Savage's list price.

    I won the auction!

The owner advises there have been between 45 to 50 rounds through the barrel.

Looking forward to receiving the 10FCP With McMillon stock! :)

Great you won. Last year I was offered 2 for $900 a piece. I bought one and wish I had bought the other one. It's one of the most accurate rifles I own that's stock.

    The Savage arrived, WOOT!

In a hard case, original documentation.

The rifle's in perfect conditon. The bases are steel, Warne (Weaver style), an extra added bouns :). The stock is awsome. I mounted a rare, Redfield (Denver) matte 8-32 (Fine X hair w/ dot) NOS scope I had in my stash. I used matte, Burris Signature Zee rings. Trigger Pull Is 1-3/8 #. Now to get to the range! .
