Short action push feed magnum boltheads........doe they exist?

I know Savage has short action control round feed magnum boltheads for fixed style ejectors, but do they make short action push feed magnum boltheads with the plunger style ejector?

Would really like to switch my 7mm WSM F-class rifle over to SS single shot action that is not set up for a fixed ejector.

you have to make one. you start with a long action head and shorten the stem to match your short action head.

Yeah thought so, really do not have the tools to do the job correctly.

Does anyone offer this service? I have two boltheads that could use some work.

You could just get an entire bolt assembly. Midway has the push feed versions available now.

WTF is up with Savage Arms? Just called them and the CS woman stated that the boltheads are a restricted item and I would have to send them a letter stating I would take all liability. I can buy these all day long @ Midway! WTF?

I would just call Fred at Sharp Shooter and order it from him. I bought a left hand for my target action and it was trued up and complete ready to install. I also purchased a magnum length firing pin assembly from him.

You guys that are shortening the long action bolt head, what are you doing for a firing pin assembly? It the standard the proper length, or do you still need to find a WSM firing pin?

Using the standard firing pin (was a .204), it fires a primed .223 WSSM case. Haven't tried a loaded round yet.

you match the length of the original bolt head and use the same pin. [Provided pin dia is the same]

BA, are you saying to chuck it in a lathe and reduce the bolt head on the locking lug side as the bolt head, excluding the stem, is something like .100 longer than my SA .473 bolt head. I certainly understand you have reduced the length of the stem, measuring from the locking lug face, to make them the same, but the boldface will extend further from the bolt reducing the dimension the firing pin will extend from the boldface. Look in the pictures at the ejector retaining pin and the difference of the amount of bolt head to the locking surface.

OH, I see what you are asking. You can adj the pin to extend a bit further. and when you set up the new barrel you will not have any problems with the head space.
