Burris xtr lows are a perfect fit on a 20 moa base. (50 mm). You will have to go higher on a 56 mm objective.
Planning to use a 1-piece Picatinny base, may be flat, may be 20 MOA elevated. The scope will have either a 50 or 56mm objective. I'd like to have to only buy rings once, so any guidance will be appreciated.

the low works with my Slll with enough clearance on a varmite barrel

IOR lows and 1/4" rings from base to the bottom of the ring curve work just fine with a 50mm PST Viper with a Model 10 predator hunter.
earl39: this the 8-32x model scope?

I've used Burris XTR low, Seekins and EGW Practical rings with both flat and 20MOA bases with 50mm objectives and heavy contour barrels. In all cases a 56mm objective should clear as well except you might have to modify any scope cover because it might not fit between the objective bell and the barrel.
An EGW base with Burris Signature Zee medium rings, the lowest ones they make, and a 50mm objective left the scope way too high.
earl39: good deal I can wait to verify
Thanks
I'm also using an EGW (non HD) 20 MOA base.
Golfer with a lightweight varmite barrel using low burris Xtreme Tactical Rings i have 1/8" clearence with the scope cap on. With a full bull i have the same clearence using medium Xtreme Tactical Rings. the lightweight varmite barrel has 20moa weaver rail and the bull barrel has 20moa EGW rail. Hope this helps.
