    Re: best ai round

I have both a 22-250 AI and a 6mm Rem AI. Both have been really good long range rounds. My problem has been short brass life with the 22-250 AI in the past. I use Winny parent brass and it was only good for 5-7 firing..... and yes I do drive them hard. The new Lapua 22-250 brass will make me try again with the 22-250AI went it comes out. My 6AI is a hammer. 28" 1:9 twist Hart barrel. It shoots the 95 Berger VLDs really good at around 3400 fps. I have shot many sub-1" 300 yd groups with it. Without a doubt I would choose the 6AI.

    just my 2 cents, Tim

I also have a few and prefer the 6mm Rem AI pushing 70gr ballistic tips, with the .25-o6 AI with 85gr bullets coming in second.

25-06 AI with 85 gr. NBT @ 3800 FPS. Looks like they swallowed a hand grenade.

Most everything I've seen puts .243AI gains compared to the parent round as negligible. The 6mmAI is a totally different animal.

Reasons: The .243 has minimal case taper to begin with so there is minimal room to blow the case out. The 6mm has a good bit of case taper and lots of room for "improvement." About 11% in case capacity.

The 6CM runs with the .243 AI but with much greater barrel life, it is fire formed off .243 winchester or lapua brass. This is a cartridge worth looking at. When loaded correctly for it will go 4000 + rounds and with a 115 DTAC it will best a 6.5x.284 out to 1000 + yards.

    Re: best ai round

This is a wildcat fire formed off a .243, Joe Hendricks developed it and has proven the extreme accuracy. Numerous records have been set by him. you can read all you want about this cartridge on 6mmbr. Search joesr and all the info is there. Joe is a real nice guy to talk to and does not mind e-mails or phone calls. There is not many people shooting this caliber, I believe that's because Joe does not run in a clique like others. Redding now sells the die and Pacific Tool sells the reamer. I'm very happy with mine. When I was fire forming brass at 200 yards and at the same time was breaking the barrel in, I had a 10 shot group you could cover with a dime. This was not unusual because Teele1 is my shooting buddy and we built these rifles at the same time and he shot a similar group that same day. I could go on and on but I'm a slow typer I've had 5 shot groups at 100 yards in the 0,1,2,and low 3's. Last month I shot 2-10 shot ragged hole groups at 200, that was with 1500 rounds down the tube and 200 rounds between cleanings. :) Joe told me the last time we talked, at about 1200 rounds he said it's just now gonna start shooting, and he is right. If you would like more info shoot me an e-mail or pm and I'll send you my or Joe's contact info.

Do a search in the 6mmbr.com forums for "joesr" and you will find the info, it looks like a great round and it may just be my next build

I just haven't had time to play with many different loads yet. This summer, I plan on lots of bench time.
