looking ot become part of the savage family..

looking to buy a 17 for plinking and some small game hunting... im looking mainly at the 93r17fv. i also like the look of the 93r17tr.. but the price is what gets me with that one.. almost $200 more for the fluted barrel and the stock.. do they make that big of a difference? would there be any aftermarket products that would get me that look, and maybe the option of an adjustable comb to adapt on the 93r17fv?

you might have to wait on that model, they are not even available yet. The fluted barrel does nothing except make it look good, but the stock is one that should have come out a long time ago, it is a coated wood stock, probably made by Boyds.

But you are upgrading from one of the crappiest stocks on the market, the plastic Savage stock, to a wood target stock with a fluted barrel, easily worth the extra $200.
