I was playing with my 22.250 (Savage receiver, Choate stock, 26" PacNor supermatch 1:10" twist, SSS LH Tactical bolt handle) and decided to take it out to the monthly F class (1,000 yard) match in Cuyama, CA (You don't know where that is) this morning.

The winds were light (thankfully) but switchy coming from behind us on the line but shifting almost full right and left downrange. The 68 grain Hornady match bullets were being pushed a good 6-8" from a 90 degree shift in the 5 mph wind over that distance.

I shot a 167 in the first relay (out of 200) and a 180 on the second relay. This was on the 10" Ten ring, 20" nine ring, 30" eight ring and 40" seven ring target.

It was a lot of fun but I think that I prefer my 6.5x284 over that distance. Hopefully by the end of February I will have the stock for my 243 (another SSS built Savage) and that will give me another option for the lighter wind days.
