Thread: Show your tactical/precision rifle/snipery/truck axle Savage!

This one started started out as a Savage fcp-k in 223. PCR modified the receiver to accept the conventional side bolt release, rebarreled it with a Krieger 8.5t 5r chambered by them in a custom throated Remington 260 (free bore extended .060). They threaded the muzzle and installed the APA little jimmy brake and cerakoted the barreled action in fde h series.
The bolt handle is my own design and the stock is a modified hs precision stock(I installed a cheek piece and adjustable butt and did a krylon camo job):

This one shoots, too! A couple 5 shot groups during load development:

I guess I can put mine here. I'm just getting started. I've had the gun about 2 weeks and this is where I'm at. I plan to get a different stock eventually, I also need to get a rail to lift the scope up some because My bolt will clip the the end of the scope every now and then.

    Sorry about that.

    It's a Axis .243
    9"-13" Bipod
then a 6-24x50mm Sniper (Off brand that my buddies buddy sells, as far as I can tell its pretty decent)

Like I said I'm just getting started.

Here's my model 10 with a 26-inch Shilen bull barrel in .308Win Match with a precision ground recoil lug, precision barrel nut, Badger Ordnance 20MOA rail, Badger Ordnance Rings, Sightron 4.5-14 scope, and Choate Tactical stock. I gave it a Rustoleum camo paint job, and then gave it a mat clear coat. It weighs in at 15 pounds 8 ounces. I can hardly wait to shoot it.

Did you have any trouble getting your PTG bolt body to fit ? I got one and I tried it on three different guns before I found one it would work on. On the first two it would trip the trigger if you closed the bolt the whole way. It seemed the last 1/8 inch of travel was tight and that is when it would fire the trigger. I talked 5 or 6 times with their engineer and he said he had 1 other one that did that and the customer replaced the bolt handle with one of theirs and it worked. I was going to send it back out to him but I thought of trying it on one more gun and it worked.

    Interesting!

The PTG Body went on sweet.

The Handle.. well, that was a different story! No real drama but my lack of experience was shown really.
A simple small filing job would have seen it slide on easy but I failed to notice this until I could get it under some decent light and some helpful forum members suggested that it should work.

Shot .58"-1.1" groups with Sierra Matchking 168gr and 175gr ammo yesterday in the pouring rain. I'll take some pictures after the targets dry out and I can straighten the paper back up.

Here's one I'm finishing up. This well be my primary hunting rifle for anything from coyote, to javelina, to whitetail, to elk if I'm lucky. I wanted something that would do the job ethically to my comfort distance of 5-600 yards so I chose the 7mm saum.
Barrel is a McGowan 26" varmint contour
Stock is a bedded FCP-k accustock.
Scope is the vortex 2.5-10x32 pst. It's only mocked up on there and currently has an egw 20 MOA base, but it'll have a weaver flat base by the time it's finished because it's lighter and lower.
It'll also have a tac ops rear saddle and will be just under 12 pounds all up. With the padded sling it carries quite effortlessly.
Paint is krylon khaki base with some olive drab and dark brown templates for a desert camo look.
