This is the gun I just finished for my son.

This is the third one we built for him. The first one he took it home when I got it finished and his 23 year old Son saw it and claimed it, the second one I just about had it done and my other Grandson was graduating from High School so my Son said he was going to give him this one for a grad.present. I think he is going to keep this one

All three are 7mm barrels with the brake and Savage didn't know they made these as they are only 22inchs with brake. They may be losing a little velocity but they really do handle nice and with 140 gr.Bergers or Accubonds they shoot great.

My Son drew first blood with this today. While shooting in a fly landed on the target and it was bang squish. Ha

That is a nice looking rig. That stock looks like the factory profile bt the figuring has got to be too nice to be factory. Right?

It is really nice but it is a factory stock I think it from a earlier 114. He bought it and the action from a member of the site.

Well its a really handsome piece of walnut, especially for a factory stock. Its a really nice clean build. Well done.

Finally got the rail and bore guide kit from midway, now just need to take it to range. Only have my old leupold for now, but will be looking for new scope next summer when there's a large outdoor and gun show, so i can touch and feel every option.

Nice looking rig you got there.
Where in East Central are you at? The bench you're shooting from looks exactly like the bench top from our local place on Sebastian, except the boards on top run the other direction. Structure is identical otherwise.
'Scuse me while I whip this out...!

I shoot at the Volusia County Gun & Hunt Club off SR44. They have a 100yd, 200m, 300m rifle range.

    http://www.volusiacountygunandhuntclub.com/

The "long range" club shoots on an adjacent property out to 1000yds. We have elevated platforms at 600 and 1000 yds. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Volus...96744950396339

I have the Malabar Rifle & Pistol range about 1/2 mile from my house yet, I go south to Sebastian. Nicer folks there. Not as many choices for long distance shooting but cool place to spend the day for 10 bucks.

For long distance (3-400yds and beyond) we head over the Osceola Co. where we have a few hundred acres of swamp & jungle. It's great for tactical practice, etc.
If you're ever down this way, look me up.
    Don't forget your rifle.

This is a McGowen 20 inch 223 I built a couple of years ago. I reworked the trigger and sanded the barrel channel out for the bull barrel. This gun is the easiest I have ever loaded for it seems to love about any combination. I have a .173 C to C 10 shot group with 2 different bullets and 2 different powder loads this was at 100 yds. I also bed it with JB Weld.

Nice looking rifle! I never would have guess that was a DIY paint job- it turned out great! I've never been a big fan of digicam but yours looks awesome.

Can you point us to any resources on the DIY 10rd mag? I'm very interested in how it was done and what the donor mag was. Thanks!!
