    Muzzel Break


    Question: anyone know the size of the thread on the barrel of my 10 BAS/K before i mess it up trying to take it off as it feels VERY TIGHT, maybe 5/8-24 ???

    Well, unless Savage broke from what the rest of the planet does...
    It depends upon caliber.
    22-cal runs 1/2" *28 TPI
    larger runs 5/8" * 24 TPI

    Very well could be "fixed" with either a locking compound, or soldered on as well.
    I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.

    FWIW, the brake on my FLCP-K (.308) was on pretty well. But a good hit on a proper sized wrench when the barrel was secure in a vice (protected with a block of oak of course) And off it came. Had some thread lock on it. And the 5/8 X 24 tpi threads needed a bit of cleaning up with a small wire brush.
