    Badger Ordnance ring height question.

Hey all. Trying to figure out which ring height I should go with. I'll be working with a short action small shank dbm action, 20 moa badger rail, and a Criterion bull barrel. The scope will have a 50mm bell. Will the medium Badger rings suffice, or will I have to go to the medium high rings? Thanks so much!

Guess only, but due to the cant on the 20MOA base, I think the regular medium will be fine.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.

I have an EGW 20 MOA on my 111. With medium rings and a 42mm objective scope (and a sporter barrel for now) I've got good clearance and enough to go to a bull contour later. I'm not sure that a 50 mm and a bull with fit with mediums.

    I'm using Warne rings, FWIW.

I see that badger lists a rail for savage short action accutriggers with, or without a solid top receiver. The action I ordered is a stainless varmint action with the detachable box magazine. I'm assuming that it is not a solid top receiver, please correct me if I'm wrong. My good friend just put the same scope that I'm going to be using on his model 10 .308 with an EGW 20 moa rail and the leupold mark 4 medium rings. It appears that he has good clearance. He does have a varmint contour barrel though. The specs on the medium leupold mark 4 rings is slightly lower than the medium badger rings.

Base Height + Ring Height + (Scope Tube Dia./2) = Centerline Height

50mm = 1.9685" (note that 50mm indicates the diameter of the lens, not the outside diameter of the objective housing. See manufacturer's specs for true objective outside diameter)

    1.9685/2 = Objective Radius Length

    Centerline Height - Objective Radius = X

If X = positive # then scope clears by that much
If X = negative # then scope hits by that much

Naturally the scopes overall length and the barrels taper will affect the height requirement to some small degree, but generally the taper variable isn't worth factoring into the equation.
