    Anybody built a 450 Bushmaster?

So Indiana has some very stupid laws when it comes to calibers for whitetail hunting...

For 2012 they just changed the laws to permit calibers such as the 450 Bushy. A friend bought a 16" AR upper and will be using it as his deer gun this fall and he's all set up for reloading it, but I'm curious if anybody has built a Savage "Thumper" for hogs, deer, whatever.

No, but 458 SOCOM is on my build list under the "someday" category. I think a bolt gun in one of these would be a ton of fun. They will run fine out of a short 16-18 inch barrel so it should be a handy little brush gun too. I like the SOCOM better because it headspaces off the shoulder while the Bushmaster uses the case mouth like a .45 ACP or .30 carbine. Just a silly prejudice of mine as both those rounds, and the Bushy for that matter, have ran fine in rifles since they were introduced. I say go for it, show us pictures, and make me move mine up my build list.

Got to thinking about my last post and it was more "golly gee that would be cool" than helpful, so here is what I've found while building mine on paper. If you want a repeater, all-be it one with a limited capacity, you will need to use a .223 staggered feed action to get it to feed right. I think Sinman said he had the SOCOM reamer, but I'm not 100% sure on that, may check with him about the Bushy. I don't think it would be any harder to pull off than any other build. Good luck.

Only a few companies are allowed to have a 458 reamer due to the cartridge being proprietary. The liscensee's include but are not limited to; RRA, Tromiks, SSK, Wilson Combat and SBR Ammo and of coarse Teppo Jutsu has the reamers as well.

Here is a link to a post on the 458S forums that talks about a bolt action 458...

Here is the thread where Sinman says he has the reamer, post #6. Also says .308 Win bolt head and .223 staggered box.
