Building a 223 on an older flat back 110 long action.

I have a long action available to build on. Going to be a bench target gun so I plan on just doing single shot feeding. Been reading that I will need a long action bolt head in 223 but I can't seem to find any anywhere. Is this even possible or should I just save up and get a short action to build on?

It is possible to get a long action .223 bolt head but they are few and far between.
I recommend giving Sharp Shooters Supply a call and telling them you want an extended firing pin stop nut to use a Short Action head on a Long Action bolt.
    It cost me $12 shipped.

The original 110FP (Police) was available in 223-308-30-06 and 300WM all on the Savage Flat Back LA...so yes its doable as stated above get with SSS, it'll be easy button easy and money will spent...pretty sure he has a single shot insert too...

I highly recommend building a 223 on a flat back 110 long action...

Everybody asks "Why?", to which the proper response is "Why not???"

You will need the shortened box magazine, extended baffle to shoten bolt stroke. If someone with a .223 long action can look up the part numbers for the staggerfeed mag,you can get it from savage or fred may have one. They are tough to spring out of the reciever, however going in is a little easier.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!

Got the extended firing pin stop nut ordered yesterday. Now all I need to do is get the bolt head from midway and off I go.
