    Re: Model 99

My main concern for a trade for this 99R, would be a rifle that was as good mecanically. This 99 feels like a brand new action for that reason i have a reluctancy at the moment to part with. I can tell you now im not interested in the obscure models mentioned, these octagon 32-20's and so forth are not even remotely what im after unless they come with a excellent brand newish action. I understand there are collector values and i dont mean to undermine these, its just not where im at.

This is a take down model, but the Shilen select match 6mmPPC short take off bull barrel was reamed out to 6mmBR, which can only be shot single shot in a 99.

The barrel is too fat to allow the for stock to be installed.

The barrel is screwed in hard, with a giant Cresant wrench for an action wrench and the barrel in a barrel vise.
But it is a take down with the interrupted threads on the action.

Thats cool, nobody can say a 99 won't keep up with a bench rest gun now.

I'd take the old forearm and fit it. Sand the inside down and bed it.

So can that barrel be changed any easier than a normal screw in barrel on a standard 99 due to the interupted thread, or is it no different now seeing as a different barrel has been used?
