    Smile Muzzle velocity loss

Hi how much muzzle velocity do you lose in the first 10 to 20 feet, that's the closest I can get to the chrono, and not get an error message.

Depends on the load of course but for a 130gr .264" VLD starting out at 3005.6fps it is down to 2998.9 at 12ft, down to 2997.2 at 15ft and down to 2993.9 at 21ft.

    A 500gr Hornady roundnose started at 1500 is down to 1491.5 at 12ft, 1489.4 at 15ft, and 1485.2 at 21ft.

A great and very capable online ballistics program is JBM Ballistics Trajectory Calculator.

Both calculations were done at 1000ft ASL and at 59* temperature.
