    Primer pocket depth


    Can someone please tell me the specs on primer pocket depth for small rifle primer. Mainly .223.

    I thought I recalled reading .004" to .005" in my Lyman book. I find in most cases, I seat it to the Bottomed Out point & call it done. This ends up being about .004"

    My misunderstanding - the dimension I posted is the amount of recess when the primer is in place.

    Stang got the actual dimensions from 'ol SAAMI humself.
