    First Savage...heck, first rifle.

First post...First Savage...heck first Hunting Rifle.... Well, I do have an AR15 but I kind of put them in a different category of rifle.

Anyways, I scored a new Savage 11 Trophy Hunter XP in .308 only minutes ago. Ive been wanting a hunting rifle for a long time and figured what better time to get one then on Fathers Day. It comes with the Nikon scope too. Ill upgrade the scope down the road but my inferior shooting skills will need to be polished before thats even a concern.

Im pretty excited. i'll be hangin around here alot in the future.

Well welcome to the forum. You will find this place to be a wealth of information. I was a die hard Remington fan for many years and I still am, but the Savages are great rifles to begin with and the flexibility they afford me has added a whole new wrinkle to this hobby.

Your post will get more response/reads on the 10/110 board ( the 11 is a 10 "variant").

    Welcome and enjoy your rifle.

The .308 is a great all around cartridge. If you reload, and need any advice......just ask. Reloading doesn't save you any money at all....it just allows you to shoot four times as much for the same price as factory ammo!!!! ;D
