    .308 velocity

    Guys,
I'm shooting a .308 1:10 twist 26" Savage barrel and using 42grains of IMR 4064 and Sierra 168 gr Match King bullets.
Anyone give me a rough idea on velocity that they have checked? I dont have chrono. BTW, that load is very accurate for me and in my reading on this forum appears to be a good load for others too.
    Thanks!

Thats a pretty standard load. My starting point on all 308 rifles. Most times if it won't shoot that, it won't shoot anything, or it is finicky.
That load runs right at 2700fps depending on the barrel. You should be with in 50fps of that.
    Best regards,
    Grit

    Re: .308 velocity

Find a published load that uses the same powder and bullet in your .308 Winchester. Then enter the information into the start form you can find by following the velocity estimator instructions at http://shootersnotes.com/calculator/velocity-estimator/. There you can get a good estimate for your barrel length and load.

    Cheers!
