Looking at the 7x57, at 60gr H20 it has more case capacity than a 7mm-08 but a little less than a 284 Win.
In a modern action, any reason this couldn't be a serious long range accuracy round? Looking to shoot paper at 600-1k, not a hunting round, mag length not an issue.
Thoughts?

Don't doubt that but not going to fire-form. Is there any data for the 7x57 in mofern actions using the 160/180 bullets for long range?
Bob Hagels books have data for modern actions and the 7x57 Msr. I have used some of them and had no problems in my Ruger 77 ts, other than its hard on brass. Also a few loads in Jack O Connor's book on hunting rifles. I was getting 2800 mv with a 160 gr Hawk bullet.
Thanks for the replies. I was considering using this round for an upcoming project but have decided against it. I love this history behind it but it just isn't the right fit for this build. Thanks again, Matt.
Mattri, I never hear of the 7x57 used in match work, but it is one GREAT hunting round. I think I will use mine this fall for a Wyoming bull. Best of Luck. Luckus
