value of equipment...need some help please

    Hey guys,
My girlfriend and her parents are going through the painful task of cleaning out her grandmas house and have found a bunch of reloading stuff. They asked me what it's worth and if I wanted to buy it. First, I know the dies should be good still, but not sure about press. Not sure details other than pictures as I'm 300 miles away.

This last picture I'm not even sure what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The last picture looks like a rifle vise/stand. Why would they not just give it to you? I would offer them $50- for the lot. Check the dies for internal rust. Presses are pretty much indestructible. The primers I would not use.

Last pic appears to be a gun vice for cleaning duties.

The dies are most likely fine and should be ok to use. Be careful if they are for older wildcats that have since been domesticated (22-250 comes to mind) they may have different dimensions then what is standard today.

The press should be ok to use, but from what little the pics show of it, it appears to use a different style of shell holder than is standard today. Some of my grandpa's stuff was set up for an older style shell holder and was not practical to use since we couldn't find very many of the holders.

Thank you for the info...if I don't take it they will put it in an auction they are having in two weeks. Now looking at it, it does look like a rifle vise of sorts. Thanks guys. I want to be fair because the money the get out of the auction and selling the stuff will be put towards nursing home cost.

It appears to be an RCBS JR1 or in other words an early junior press and should use standard shell holders. If stored correctly the primers would also be good. I agree with Boots on the dies, check to see if they are for old wildcats now standardized.

Just got more info the press is a jr2 and the dies are as follows 357, 250 savage 30-30 and a bullet puller. Lol I love her but trying to have somebody describe stuff that had no idea about shooting stuff or guns in general...whew. :P

Well depending on local prices i would say the press is worth 40-50 used and the dies are about 20 each and that should be giving them a decent price point. The primers being as old as they are are a give-me (but stand a good chance of being good) and the cleaning vise would be make an offer.

If that 1-2" micrometer is in good shape it is worth a few bucks also depending on brand, looks like it might be an old Starrett.
