    Stolen 110 Build

I received a call from a neighboring Sherriff's Department informing me that my 110 .30-06 (that was stolen 6 years ago) was found. The good news is that I will be picking it up next week, but the bad news is that it is missing the bolt and magazine. Since I will need to buy the bolt anyway, I am looking at doing a rebuild. I am thinking about building a magnum, since I already have two other .30-06's. Is a .458 wm doable on this frame?

Should be fine I'd think. I believe others on here have built them before, maybe one of them will chime in.

Yes. I am also (slowly) working on a .458 win mag build.

    Re: Stolen 110 Build

My 458WM works great and is also built from a 30-06.

    Stevens 200 Long Action CF
    24" Shaw barrel with brake
    300WM CF magazine
    3-screw Trigger

Functions well as a repeater with the lighter Spitzer type bullets, I have mostly been using the 325FTX from Hornady over RL7. I have not tried any heavier or FN type bullets since installing this mag but the 325FTX should put down anything up through black bear without any trouble. Since your action is more than likely a SF, you should be able to use the original Savage 458 Mag body and follower (may have to do some looking though).

Here is a pic of mine....

Thanks for the info. I have rebuilt a couple of Mausers, and can't wait to build the Savage.

Yep, I had a 458WM barrel on a small shank savage.

No big deal except for the recoil. Have a 20" barrel made, Take it to the
range and watch the people around you cringe - LOL.

Picked up my rifle yesterday. It has a little surface rust, but nothing that can't be taken care of. Want to build this right and take my time, as necessary. Any suggestions?

Look at midwayusa: Under $25.00 for the staggerfeed magnum mag body and follower.
I'll get you the specific links if you need them.
